Chamber takes home three prestigious awards at national convention

ALEXANDRIA, VA -- The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce took home three prestigious awards at the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) national convention in Milwaukee, Wis.

The Chamber is the 2010 recipient of the Best of Show Award for Communications Excellence for its “Visiting Montgomery” video, which is used to promote tourism within the River Region. The video also won a Grand Award in the video category.

According to the ACCE, the Best of Show award illustrates and embodies the essence of communications excellence.

Only one entry from among this year’s five Grand Awards was bestowed this honor. The ACCE Best of Show Award was presented at the annual ACCE Convention Aug. 5 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Also at the convention, the Chamber’s Montgomery Business Journal received an Award of Excellence. Entries receiving an ACE Award for Excellence surpass the fundamental standards and criteria for communication excellence.

“We are so very proud of the ACCE awards. The ‘Visiting Montgomery’ video is such a creative and powerful marketing tool for tourism and recruitment,” said Nimrod T. Frazer Jr., chairman of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. “The Chamber staff went above and beyond in showcasing Montgomery as a vibrant, culturally diverse city.”

This year’s ACCE competition drew 84 entries from chambers throughout the U.S.

The Awards for Communication Excellence (ACE) is an annual competition that recognizes excellence in all areas of communications. Celebrating its 27th year, ACE continues to be the vehicle for the chamber community to promote effective chamber communications, as well as highlight initiatives, introduce events and inform members.
